What is MBEL?
Mindfulness-Based Ethical Living (MBEL) explores how mindfulness can extend into the way we perceive situations, make decisions, relate to others, and act in everyday life.
MBEL is a guided online course for people with previous mindfulness experience who would like to take their practice beyond formal meditation and bring greater awareness, care, and responsibility into everyday situations.
At the heart of the course is a simple observation: our reactions and decisions are shaped by habitual patterns, often more than we realize.
Through mindfulness, reflection, and practice in everyday life, MBEL helps you notice these patterns, understand how they operate, and gradually open up different ways of responding. The course calls this the Ethical Habit Loop.
Over the course, you will explore how to:
- notice when something matters
- widen awareness to the situation and its context
- recognize reactive patterns as they begin to unfold
- clarify what matters and what you want your response to serve
- respond with greater care and responsibility
- learn from the consequences of your actions
In this way, mindfulness becomes not only a practice of awareness, but a way of seeing more clearly and responding more responsibly in everyday life.
Who is this course for?
MBEL is designed for people who:
- would like to extend their mindfulness practice into everyday life
- have already completed a mindfulness course such as MBSR, MBCT, or a comparable programme
- would like to recognize habitual reactions earlier and respond less automatically
- want to connect mindfulness with ethical responsibility, relationships, and everyday action
What MBEL is not
MBEL is not an introductory meditation course.
The foundations of mindfulness practice are assumed rather than taught from the beginning. Guided practices are part of every session, but the main focus is on bringing mindfulness into situations, relationships, decisions, and actions in everyday life.
Course format
Guided · Online · Nine live sessions
The course consists of one introductory session followed by eight course sessions.
Each live online session lasts 2 hours.
Between sessions, you will continue the practice through:
- guided audio practices
- brief everyday-life practices
- reflection exercises and worksheets
- written course materials
The emphasis is not on adding large amounts of practice time to your day. Much of the learning happens in ordinary situations as they occur.
Course fee
Regular fee: €240
Reduced fee: €120
The reduced fee is available for people on a low income.
We want MBEL to be accessible. You are welcome to choose the reduced fee without providing proof or an explanation.
Access to the course materials
Course materials are released week by week, in step with the live sessions.
They are not made available all at once before the course begins. This allows the course to unfold as intended: practice first, experience in everyday life, and then the next step.
You will retain access to the materials released during the programme.
