Ajahn Buddhadasas Ansatz ist stark säkular, weil er sich auf die universellen menschlichen Erfahrungen von Leid und Glück konzentriert und praktische Techniken (wie Achtsamkeit und Einsicht) anbietet, die jeder anwenden kann, unabhängig von kulturellem oder religiösem Hintergrund. Er betont die Logik und die direkte Erfahrung statt blindem Glauben und macht den Buddhismus so zu einer Philosophie und Psychologie des Lebens.
